Victoria House is now open Tuesdays
from 5:00pm to 9:00pm!
NEWS AND NOTES FROM PHIL, MARY AND THE STAFF...
Hot! Hot! Hot! And that is not in reference to any song. July’s
weather has been uncomfortable and record breaking. As we look to
the dog days of August I think they can only give relief to July’s
temperatures. The rain finally came in mid July with great hopes
it was in time to save the sweet corn. We hope to see Jenny Byerly
at the Lewisburg farm in early August selling a bountiful crop of
silver queen, butter sugar, and other corn varieties. Alden, Philip and
Miranda may open their stand at Victoria House if enough corn makes
it through the drought—watch for them during the 1st week of August.
Hey, what’s up with the new faces? Monna Rarig (11 years on
our staff) and Conrad Arbogast (4 years on staff) have each had
surgery, separately of course. We are happy to say both are doing
better and plan to return for the fall. Kellie and Peter, who both attend
Susquehanna University, are studying abroad in different locations
in Australia. So please help us welcome Amanda Deppen, Ashley
DeBaro, Megan Stahlnecker, and Lindsey Miller to our restaurant
server floor. Also, we have gotten a lot of questions as to where Big
Mike is. We are happy to say he landed a full time position with
benefits in Williamsport. You may see him helping out from time to
time but Congratulations to all.
As we prepare to send everyone back to school, we get a little
sentimental. Miranda is starting her last year in middle school and
the boys are in second grade. The college students on staff go back to
college and it truly is the end of summer. I hate to think of preparing
for the cold winter weather, but always look forward to the beautiful
fall we get with the changing of the leaves. On that note, there are
football seasons ahead – we wish the best of luck to our new Bucknell
Head Football Coach Joe Susan and wonder with the rest of the valley,
is this Joe Paterno’s last season? Let’s go State!
